  1. General
  2. -------
  3. This is a simple TaskWindow Parent for the 'dmpa' program.

  5. Before you can use this, you must place the 'dmpa' program file inside the
  6. !PlayAMPEG directory.
  7.  
  8. dmpa is made by osi@stekt.oulu.fi, and will play MPEG audio files.
  9.  
  10. Use
  11. ---
  12. Doubleclick on an audio file, or drag it to the icon. This will start dmpa
  13. playing the file in the background. Any output from dmpa will be shown in the
  14. status window (like compression statistics, errors etc.)
  15.  
  16. Clicking Stop (or running another MPEG file) will stop the one playing (and
  17. start the next). I'm pleased to note that the escape snag was fixed in dmpa
  18. 0.24, so it works now. You do need to make sure you use 0.24, otherwise
  19. anything might happen when you stop.

  21. Most special cases are dealt with, like quitting PlayAMPEG at inconvenient
  22. times, dmpa dying etc. But I wouldn't be too wild, because the TaskWindow
  23. module has been known to confuse MessageTrans in some cases. If I knew when, I
  24. would try to fix it, so if you can provoke a repeatable error, please tell me
  25. how.

  27. There's an experimental feature too, the ability to drag the time-bar in
  28. order to fast-forward or rewind. This has been disabled by default, but if
  29. you are prepared for some special effects, you can turn it on with !ResEd
  30. (making the slider 'interactive' instead of 'display'). It does seem to work
  31. most times, but dmpa still doesn't quite like it.

  35. This program is PD, and there is of course no guarantee.

  37. You may use this privately as much as you like, and give it away if you want.
  38. But it may not be supplied as (part of) any commercial product without getting
  39. my permission (and possibly "osi"'s for good measure).
  40. This includes, but is not limited to, CDROMs sold with MPEG sound on them.
